How to Make Money Blogging

How to Make Money Blogging: 7 Strategies to Help you Get Started Immediately

You can make money from blogging. It can pay for your bills. It does work for everyone. There’s no secret and you’ll just really need to know how to get started and which blogging framework to follow.

It’s not a difficult process at all and this post will provide 7 distinct methods you can use to generate substantial income from blogging. These seven methods are strategies you can adopt right from the beginning, preferably before you set up your first blog.

You can think of them as guidelines which point out the different options you have, if you’re serious about using blogging as a method of making money online.

1. The “Flagship” or Big Blog Route

This is simultaneously the most profitable and most time-consuming blog venture. The flagship method directs all your focus on a few blogs in order to make them incredibly popular in their niche. Flagship blogs should have a large audience as well as high daily visitor traffic numbers.

These type of big blogs have a wide variety of monetization options with direct advertising sales being a big part of it. Know that not everyone can successfully create a big blog so attempt this route only if you absolutely believe that you have the networking skills, niche knowledge and marketing know-how that’s needed.

Benefits: Fame as well as more monetization options/potential for your blogs, alongside personal satisfaction. Another advantage is that big blogs usually market or promote themselves automatically once a certain level of fame has been achieved.
Disadvantages: Very time-consuming especially if you are not outsourcing the content creation or marketing duties. Expect a lot of work and experiment with creative promotional ideas if you decide to go this route.
2. The “Pay per Post” or Get Paid to Blog Route

This is rather simple. Set up multiple niche blogs on either your own domains or free blog hosts like Blogger. Maintain them over a period of time and focus on writing content and building up their Google PageRank, link profile and Alexa Rank.

Submit all of your blogs to multiple get paid to blog websites like Blogitive, Blogsvertise, Review Me, Sponsored Reviews, PayperPost, LoudLaunch and then start writing sponsored posts. I highly recommending using PayperPost as they simply have the largest amount of paid offers available.

Benefits: The greatest strength of this method is that you don’t even need a large audience to make money. 20 people could be visiting and reading your blogs everyday and you’ll still be able to make at least $15 a day from each blog. If skillfully done over multiple blogs, this method can allow you to easily make over $1.5 K a month.
Disadvantages: No passive income. You’ll need to spend time writing multiple sponsored blog posts, which can be boring and time consuming. Work will also be needed to maintain your multiple blogs, although that will be minimal after they have been optimized and running for some time.

3. The Automated Blogging or Splog Route

Automated blogging involves the setting up of blogs which automatically pull content from RSS feeds, search engines and news sources to serve as content on your website.

Some bloggers set this to pull partial excerpts of RSS feeds, which does go against some copyrights and one can choose to only include excerpts with a link back to the site in question. Monetization for automated sites is usually done through contextual ads like Google Adsense or affiliate programs.

Benefits: Very little work needed to maintain these blogs as they do not need you to actively generate or write content. You might need to do a little SEO and regular maintenance now and then. Try if you are adventurous.
Disadvantage: A weak potential for profit unless you understand the entire process perfectly and if you have quite a large number of blogs.I estimate that a fully automated blog will make you around $5 a month although the actual value depends on the niche and your skills. Assuming that this is so, you’ll need 1,000 blogs to make around $5000 a month. Splogs dwell in ethically gray areas as well.

4. The Text Link Selling Blog Route

The main bulk of your income through this method comes from selling text links to various webmasters and businesses who want to improve their site ranking in Google. While text link selling works for the flagship or other blog models as well, sites can be primarily built for text link sales as well.

The overwhelming emphasis here is on Google PageRank and niche relevancy so you’ll need to focus on these two factors. You can either convert a domain into a text link and sponsored post selling blog or you can purchase a domain with existing PageRank to sell text links for a quick buck. I suggest looking for link buyers directly through webmaster forums.

Benefits: Selling text links or contextual text links is rather easy and doesn’t involve much work. Potential for profit will correspond to your Google Page Rank and niche. A site with a high PageRank and a profitable niche (mortgages, credit cards) will be very attractive to link buyers. Like paid review blogs, traffic is not a factor in these blogs as well.
Disadvantages: Over Reliance on the Google PageRank algorithm means that your income may rise or fall depending on your actual Page Rank. There may also be a limit to the number of links you can sell which leads to an income ceiling.

5. The Made-for-Adsense or Made-for-Affiliate-Program Route

This involves setting up a blog around a specific topic with moderately high priced keywords (e.g. teeth whitening, car loans). You’ll only need to create around 25 keyword rich articles on the topic, optimize it for search, set up Adsense or affiliate programs and then leave them alone.

The main emphasis is on building links to the specific webpages, according to the long tail keywords you want to target. Search engine visitors will then find your blog and either click on the ads or convert on a product.

Benefits: Not a lot of time involved as you can usually contract an experienced writer to develop the keyword rich articles. Not much time is needed to update the blogs as well and new material can be added on a bi-weekly or even monthly basis.
Disadvantages: There might be a lot of competition in a profitable niche and search traffic might not lead to sufficient income, unless you go for volume and set up dozens of similar websites in other niches as well.

6. The Blog Network or Contract Blogging Route

This involves joining a blog network and getting paid to maintain and create content for blogs. You’ll get paid according to the amount of pageviews, possibly receive a token base fee in the hundreds or a share of the blog’s ad revenue.

Benefits. Relatively stable monthly income because of the base fee. Contract work usually leads to more freelance blogging or writing assignments because of your proven ability or association with a specific organization.
Disadvantages: Why bother? If you’re that good at creating and promoting a blog, set up your own website and keep all the profits. However, it is useful to note that a lot depends on the type of network or contract agreement you receive.

7. The Blog-as-Marketing or Branding Route

This method will only apply if you own an online business or provide a freelance service like web design, copy writing or marketing consultation. A blog can be used to help promote your personal or business brand and attract more customers.

This is an indirect method of making money. Ideally, this sort of a blog shouldn’t be plastered with ads or paid reviews because it can tarnish the image of the brand.

Benefits. A blog can help your brand or business to develop much more search visibility because it allows you to easily create more fresh content that caters to specific demographics as well.
Disadvantages. Your blog will only be as useful as the quality of the service or product you are pushing. The amount of money you earn doesn’t entirely depend on the quality of the blog but the value of your service/product as well. Income is therefore indirect and can be inconsistent.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are several strategies you can choose if you’re interesting in making money from blogs. You can experiment with several of these methods in order to develop a better grasp of how blogs work or you can zero in on a strategy that appeals to you the most. Whatever path you choose, it is important to know that success will usually come when one is willing to invest time and effort in not only working as blogger but constantly learning how to better monetize or grow your blog.

Improving your skill-set and knowledge levels is especially essential if you’re planning to own blogs that make a steady income every month, and not just write for other blogs or use them as addons for your core business. As always, be sure to pick one that suits your personal schedule and interests. Good luck!

Make Money Blogging

Make Money Blogging

Do you want to make money blogging? If you do – you’re not alone. More and more bloggers are finding that blogging is a profitable medium. Whether it be to earn a few extra dollars a week to feed their coffee habit, or making enough money to stop them having to get a part time job to get through college, or whether they’ve got it to a point where they are able to make a full time living from their blogging – there are tens of thousands of bloggers who make money blogging.

How to Make Money Blogging
In this page I want to share some information for beginners on how to make money blogging.

First – let me start by sharing my own top Money Making Methods (updated regularly) but below that point you to some great resources and teaching on how to increase your income from blogging.

What follows is a quick summary of my main income streams from blogging. Before you read it though – keep in mind that every blog is unique in how it can make money. Some of the following income streams will work on some blogs a lot better than others – the key is to experiment with as many as possible and see what works best for you.

The following income streams (from a number of blogs) have helped me to earn a six figure income each year for the last 5 years from blogging. I’ve ranked them from highest to lowest.

I hope you find it useful to see the mix and variety of ways that I earn a living from blogging.

1. AdSense

Despite not using it here at ProBlogger any more (here’s why) I continue to use AdSense with amazing effect on my other blogs. I have them all set to show image and text based ads and find that 250×300 pixel ads work best (usually with a blended design). I don’t have much luck with their ‘referrals’ program but their normal ads work a treat and continue to be the biggest earner for me.

2. Affiliate Programs

I run a variety of affiliate programs on my blogs – most of which bring in smaller amounts of money that don’t really justify a category of their own (but which certainly add up).

These include recommending quality products like these here on ProBlogger: Thesis WordPress theme, Yaro’s Blog Mastermind Coaching Program and How to Launch the F*** out of your E-Book (and others) as well as some great products on my photography blog including 123 of Digital Imaging, David DuChemin’s amazing Photography E-Books and Mitchell Kanashkevich’s great ebooks.

The great thing about many of these programs is that they are of such high quality that they sell themselves and I am being emailed from readers who sign up to them thanking me for the recommendation!

3. E-Book Sales

Last time I did a wrap up of how I make money blogging this category did not exist for me – I didn’t really have any of my own products to sell at all. However in the last year or so I’ve released 3 E-books – 31 Days to Build a Better Blog, The Essential Guide to Portrait Photography and Photo Nuts and Bolts: Know Your Camera and Take Better Photos. While these products all only sell for under $20 they certainly add up and some months this has been my biggest category of income. The reason they were only ranking at #3 in the last month was that I didn’t do a product launch (I wrote about one launch which brought in $72,000 in a week here). This is an income stream I see growing as I add more E-books to my range (expect 3 in the coming few months).

4. Continuity Programs

This is another newer category for me but one that continues to grow.

A continuity program is a site where you earn a recurring income from people who subscribe to a service you offer.

For me this includes two sites – ProBlogger.com and Third Tribe Marketing. Both programs are membership sites and generate monthly income from the thousands of members that they have as a part of them.

5. Private Ad Sales/Sponsorships

Private ad sales directly to advertisers have fallen for me in the last year (they previously ranked #3 on this list). This is partly due to a change in my own focus but also partly due to the economy as it is. I should note that this area does vary a little from month to month depending upon the campaigns we’re asked to run – we’ve had a couple of months where it actually ranked #2 in the last year.

This includes ad sales of the 125 x 125 ads here at ProBlogger as well as a campaign or two at Digital Photography School.

6. Chitika

Chitka continues to be a great performer for me on my blogs. They traditionally have worked best on product related blogs although their Premium ad units now convert well on a larger range of blogs.

While I’ve focused a little less on Chitika in the last 6 months (mainly as I’ve released my own products and moved a little away from advertising) they do continue to perform well where I use them and over the time I’ve been using Chitika they’ve now earned me over a quarter of a million dollars – as a result I can’t recommend them enough!

7. Amazon Associates

Amazon’s affiliate program has been one of my big movers in the last 12 months. I used to make a few odd dollars from it – however in recent times it has become a significant earner for me (in fact it’s now earned me over $100,000 since I started using it). Christmas time (and the lead up to it) is a particularly good time for Amazon – last December it would have ranked #2 on this list.

8. ProBlogger Job Boards

The job boards here at ProBlogger continue to grow each month in the number of advertisements that are being bought. This enabled me to invest most of the money that they’d earned a while back into getting a new back end for the boards and to redesign them. These job boards now bring in over $1000 a month in revenue which is pretty nice considering that they are so low maintenance to run. They also offer a service to readers and add value to the overall blog.

The only problem that I face with the job boards is that there are so many bloggers looking for work that the demand for jobs far exceeds the supply. On the good side of things is that advertisers are reporting getting amazing quality of applications.

9. Speaking Fees

I get asked to do a lot of speaking and increasingly they are paid opportunities. I’m not able to do as many as I would like (mainly because I live in Australia and most of what I’m asked to do is overseas and I only travel 2-3 times a year) – however in April I did a couple of events and the income was enough to include in this list.

Other Income

In addition to all of the above there are many smaller incomes. Many of these are from smaller advertising programs that I test but none are big enough to really rate a mention here.

The other income stream that there was no actual money from in April was book royalties from the ProBlogger Book. These are only paid every 6 or so months (not in April). It’s probably also worth mentioning that authors don’t tend to make a whole lot of money on book royalties – you don’t write books to get rich (unless you sell a lot of them).

Make Money From Your Website

Make Money From Your Website

10 Easy tips to make money off your website

This article is intended to teach you step by step how to get started and more importantly, make money from your website. We will teach you how to start a home based website business. Please leave us comments, questions, or success stories so that we can improve this guide. This guide is part of our make money online article series. More related articles can be found at the lower part of this page.

Hundreds of thousands of webmasters across the world make money with their websites. Why not you? Here are 10 easy tips that you can use on your website to make it profitable.

Google AdSense - Make money selling advertising space. While banner ads are not worth your time for the most part, Google AdSense is. Many web site owners make a comfortable living off of AdSense profit alone.
Affiliate Marketing - Make money referring your website traffic to other web sites. Don’t have a product? That is 100% O. K. Just add someone else product to your site by joining an affiliate program and forget about it. If you have related content (free information) you will see a slow trickle of income from your affiliate links.
Write an eBook - Sell your own idea or product. I know it sounds like a day dream, but people do this all the time. In fact, it is the most common method that people use to make money. Write an eBook, offer consultations, or make something people will use. In this category, you are only limited by your imagination.
Create an online directory - Sell text links. Add a directory area to your site and offer to place links to other web sites for a small fee.
Become a Paid Blogger. Offer to blog for companies. Blogging is fast becoming an important link building strategy for online companies. There are hundreds of small businesses that could benefit from a professional blog but, do not have the resources to hire a full time employee. You have a website, put it to use!
Open your own eBay store. Buy low, sell high. There is no easier place to sell than online with your own eBay store. You can concentrate on a particular type of product like coins and antiques or you can sell a wide variety.
Host an online competition. Offer prizes for the first, second and third place winners. Your competition can be on almost anything. Think of a way to offer a competition, create a small entry fee and you are set!
Create a members only area. You can create a members only site about anything from Fan Clubs, Online Newsletters, Courses and Training, Stock Trading Tips, Dating Sites, Personal Advice, Horoscopes, Family Trees, and so on. Again, your only limitation is your imagination. If you have a site already up and running, offer something in your paid member’s area that they cannot easily get for free.
Begin a paid advice service. Free information is great and will draw readers to your site. Once there, help the reader out with some basic information. Save the real “meat” for those that are willing to pay a small fee.
Sell your site. Why drag on a project for years when you can get in, get out and turn a quick (albeit smaller) profit? Create your site, get it listed in the search engines, make sure you get a few dollars a week in online advertising and sell your site for a few thousand dollars.
Again, these are just a few of the ways you can make money from your website.

List of Sites to Make Money Writing Paid Reviews

List of Sites to Make Money Writing Paid Reviews

Guest Post by Anil Gupta

This post is about the list of websites where you can make money online by doing paid reviews. Getting reviews written by good bloggers is a very popular way among advertisers to generate buzz about their brand and reach a whole new set of audience. There are many websites which allow bloggers to make money by writing paid reviews. PayPerPost is among the most oldest and most popular among paid networks to get paid by completing review assignments.

In this post, I am mentioning more sites where you can get paid reviews from advertisers. The rate you are paid for each review will vary according to the link popularity and authority of your website. All you need is a PayPal account and you can earn a lot of money by writing paid reviews.

BuyBlogReviews
This is a great site where many advertise come to find popular blogs related to them. BuyBlogReviews has no minimum payment amount - all money transactions are on Paypal.

ReviewMe
This is a well-known website that gives bloggers a great way to make money online by writing paid reviews. Each paid review can earn you anything from $20 to $200. ReviewMe also offers payment in check apart from the usual Paypal payments.

SponsoredReviews
You can browse and ask advertisers to advertise a review on your blog. Also, you can set your own price. SponsoredReviews will share the revenue 50:50. I have earned a lot of money from SponsoredReviews by promoting advertisers.

Blogsvertise
Blogsvertise is a very simple concept of earning from paid reviews. You dont have a market place but the site admin will assign you paid reviews on a regular basis. They have no minimum amount of payment and all payments are done through Paypal.

BloggerWave
They have an array of world class advertisers who want to promote their website/products. If you register yourself at their site - you can have a great opportunity to earn money from blogging. BloggerWave also does not have any minimum payment threshold.

PayU2blog
A good site if you want to get a consistent flow of paid review assignments. As the name suggest they simply pay you to blog- about their advertisers. Again, they also have no minimum payment amount.

LinkWorth
LinkWorth basically allows you to earn from paid reviews but they offer a lot of other ways to earn money. LinkWorth allows bloggers to sell links as well as banner ads, full page ads etc. They share revenue 70:30.

Making money from paid reviews is great as they allow you to earn from what a blogger loves to do the most - blogging.

Make Money Blogging

Make Money Blogging
Blogging - The most popular way to make money

This article is intended to teach you step by step how to get started and more importantly, make money blogging. We will teach you how to start a home based blogging business. Please leave us comments, questions, or success stories so that we can improve this guide.

According to Wikipedia, "A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of web site where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary)." (Wikipedia, March 2007) It was not until recently however, that people have been using blogging as a full time home based business and have been making enough money to make it worth while.

So, how do you start to make money blogging? Believe it or not, It's actually fairly easy to get started. If you have a access to a computer and internet it can even be completely free! If you do not have a computer at home, you can always go to your local library and blog from there. So, if you are serious about making money blogging, there should be no excuses stopping you.
make money bloggin

Once you decide that blogging is right for you, you need to find a blogging platform. There are a number of web sites that will allow you to host your blog. Alternatively, you can create you own website and blog using wordpress. If you decide that making your own blog web site is a little beyond your technical skills, you can use any of the following companies.

* Blogger.com
* Blog.com
* BlogToolKit.com
* Wordpress.com
* LiveJournal.com

Obviously there literally hundreds of other blogging sites that you can use. Feel free to do a search for "free blog" in your favorite search engine.

Once you have a platform from which to start blogging, you need to decide on your "niche" market. Think about the last time you searched on the internet for a topic that you wanted to learn more about? Perhaps you even found our site by doing such a search. The simple fact is, people go to the internet to find information. If you can supply that information, you will begin to accrue readers and profit from that web traffic.

By choosing a niche market, like make money blogging for example, you are funneling the search traffic into a select group of people who will actually be interested in what you have to say. So, rather than coming to your blog and hitting the back button, the reader will see that your blog is about their interests and will stay and read.

The next step is to blog every day. In fact, one of the biggest mistakes new bloggers make is thinking that they can post a blog and forget about it. This is NOT the case. In order to make it big, you have to keep readers interested and coming back to your blog again and again.

It's really not hard to do, especially if you chose a niche market that you are interested in. People really do want to know what you have to say, even if it is only opinions or your daily life story. Once you get someone interested, they will come back time and time again and that is where the money is made.

Next, you need to throw up some ads. You can choose from any number of ad companies but for beginners we suggest either Google Adsense, or Yahoo Marketing

Once you have your ads up and once you attract enough readers, sit back, continue blogging and watch the money come in. Each time someone views your blogs, there is a chance (usually around 2%) that they will click on an ad and you will get paid. Talk about an easy home business! The more readers you get, the more money you will rake in. Some blogs make well over 6 figures a year and the sky is the limit. So why not get started and begin making money by blogging?

EARN ONLINE

EARN ONLINE
Many Ideas on How to Earn Online

Earn Cash Online
By Kelly Land, © 2005-2010, All rights reserved.

There are numerous ways to earn money online. All are absolutely free to do and will earn you some extra money to spend on anything you like! I use many of these program to earn anywhere from $100-$400 a month!

I try to keep my EARN ONLINE section updated and add new information when I come across it. Come back often to see what new programs I've added. Seems like almost every day there is a new way to earn cash online. It may not be that you can earn tons of money with these programs, but doing several of them can certainly earn you a hundred or more a month. I LOVE going to my mailbox or check my email and finding that I've got a check or PayPal payment. It may be that I only earned $14.70 with one program, but maybe I earned $25.17 with another and $53.44 with another. You get my drift??

Spending a little time online can add up. Whether it's an earn online program that requires you to read email or maybe fill out offers - it can become "real" money real quick! Some people shrug their shoulders and think...."Aaah...why bother?"

Why bother??
I am currently making almost $400 a month doing some of these very simple opportunities. And maybe at first I was even thinking....."Can I REALLY earn online reading emails? Come on....sounds like there is a catch?"

No catch.

I will tell you this - you can earn more by referring others. I always refer my friends and family if I find a really good opportunity - then they of course refer their friends....and sometimes you're paid for all those referrals. It might be a one time earning bonus for that referral or you may earn a residual off that referral for as long as they are a member! And a few referrals add up. Most the people I refer are wanting to make some extra cash anyway - so it's not like I'm bothering them.

I've read numerous stories about people making a full time income from a program as simple as say, Hits4Pay. How? Because they have the ability to refer thousands of others and earn from those referrals.

I personally make anywhere from $50 to $90 a month with Hits4Pay! And like I said before....I realize that $50 bucks.....or $90 bucks isn't going to move mountains in my life - but it sure does help out a lot around here. it pays for gas in my minivan, groceries and even seeds and plants for my garden! And I earned it right from home, sitting at my computer. Didn't cost me a dime. I was reading ads that took not 2-3 minutes a day. Totally a no-brainer.

So don't roll your eyes at some of these programs - you might be pleasantly surprised. And if I try a program - I share my results (good and bad) with you. Sometimes I am truly amazed at the results. But I am always happy to get those little checks in the mail. My family and I drove to Atlanta to see the King Tut Exhibit with some of my earnings. Not sure we could have done a trip like that without the extra cash I make.

Many of these programs do not require any type of resume or application process. They are free, easy to sign up with and you can start earning right away.

Money making programs and opportunities aren't the only thing I list here. There is a little of everything, and I try to find new stuff all the time so come back often or bookmark this page.

The following is an unsolicited guest post from one of our students, a great guy who goes by the handle ’skinnyninja’ in our forums. Yes, he is skinny. And yes, he is a ninja. In addition to building his passive income online, he supports the addiction recovery community with a really amazing blog. Anyone struggling with any addictions (or even bad habits) would be wise to check it out.

Let me introduce myself:

* I am a student of The Keyword Academy.

* I signed up for the 1 dollar trial at TKA back in April of 2009, so I have been in the program for a little over a year now.

* Before joining TKA, I worked very hard on a single website for 3 years, but it was not making much money to really speak of. Some days I would make a dollar or even less in Adsense earnings.

Let’s cut right to the chase: after about a year of learning and applying new knowledge, my results can speak for themselves. This money shot is for the last seven days, not an entire month:

Now obviously, $199 for a week in Adsense earnings will translate into some nice monthly earnings. $800 dollars or so each month in passive earnings is not to bad for 10 months worth of effort, right? It is certainly the best investment that I have made in quite a while. I mean, what would you be doing with an extra $800 in cash every month? I have it flowing into my life right now, with almost no additional work to maintain it, and let me tell you….it makes a huge difference!

Please keep in mind that I work a full time job in the real world and do not possess amazing internet marketing skills or anything. I am just a regular guy who was looking for an additional stream of income, and started looking for a way to learn more about how to make money online.

You are probably wondering how I was able to produce $800 per month in passive earnings using the Keyword Academy program. I’m going to break it down into the key areas where I think the real value comes from, and how I make more money because of it:

* Extreme focus
* Support and community
* TKA Tools
* Leadership and challenges
Extreme focus

Making money on the internet can be absolutely overwhelming. There are so many different methods you could test out, so many different techniques you could try. This might include anything from selling stuff on eBay, to writing freelance articles for extra cash, to attempting what Court and Mark teach to develop a passive stream of income from search engine traffic. Some people get overwhelmed before they even choose a direction to go in!

On top of the confusing options, the market is littered with scams, especially in the make money online world. It is a rare treat to find someone who is willing to give you 100% full access to everything for a measly one dollar test drive….not to mention that they make this offer for an entire month.

A big part of what helped me in getting to my income goal was increased focus. Court and Mark actually harp on this concept quite a bit, because it produces results in the real world. They have a detailed system for generating traffic and then making money from that traffic, and they are fanatical about cutting out the extra fluff that does not lead to increased income. Every single action you take when working on internet marketing should be driving you towards your income goals. The TKA program has a number of ways that they go about enhancing focus for students.

Part of the success of the TKA program is in the focus and the simplicity. Court and Mark are teaching you how to generate search engine traffic, period. Yes, there are a million little details to pile on top of this. Is the topic profitable? Do searchers for a certain keyword tend to click ads or ignore them? Is there enough income potential with a keyword to make it worthwhile? Could we make more money by ditching Adsense and selling affiliate products instead? And on and on. But the core program sweeps everything aside and shows you how to answer all of these questions, and more, with focus and simplicity. In fact, the program allows for plenty of expansion and flexibility, in that once you learn how to choose the optimal keywords for your topic and start generating traffic, it then becomes quite easy to test different methods of monetization, optimize for different keywords, expand into other keyword categories, and so on.

Also, once you learn how to focus on the actions that produce traffic and income, it becomes so much easier to replicate those actions and scale your efforts up. With so much clutter and junk in the world of internet marketing, it is nice to be able to sweep 99 percent of it aside and learn how to engage in the actions that can grow your passive earnings.

How focus has helped me make more money:

At one point in my internet marketing career, I was checking my earnings once per day, and was always devastated when it was not higher than it was the day before. Both Court and Mark helped me achieve a mental breakthrough–both in different ways and in slightly different areas–that allowed me to truly separate what made a day successful for me or not. Once I was able to separate my earnings for the day from the amount of work I was doing, I was able to rapidly accelerate my marketing efforts and my income started to jump. This mental conditioning led to some pretty big action for me, and helped me to move beyond a plateau that I was stuck at for months. As a result, my income pretty much doubled over a period of 90 days, and it has been steadily rising ever since then.

You may have a website, or a couple of websites, and you put in some tough work and you get to a point where your earnings sort of levels off for a while, and you can’t really see the next major leap to make. I have been at this point at least twice in the last 10 months. Each time, I was able to break through this point after listening to either Court or Mark during a live webinar. I came away from the live session with a spark of inspiration and an idea, a feeling of “I can do this!” And thus I would start taking massive action on my web properties, somehow putting in a ton of hard work in such a way so as to seriously boost my earnings in the long run. And both times that this happened–when I attacked my business with renewed focus–I always saw a substantial leap in earnings within the next 90 days.

Focus is such a huge part of internet marketing, because the hard work that we put in today will not pay dividends from an SEO standpoint for several weeks or even months. So my breakthroughs have always occurred when Court and Mark were able to convince me to take it on blind faith that “If you do X, you will get Y.” Rinse and repeat.
Support and community

In my opinion, the forum alone is worth the price of admission. Ask an honest question or request some feedback or opinions, and you get it right away, within an hour or less. Instant guru help. In nearly every case, people who are earning thousands of dollars per month in internet marketing are jumping in left and right to help you with questions. It really is an unbelievable community. And of course, Court and Mark themselves are active on the forums, and this provides huge value as well.

Beyond the forum, there are other forms of support as well, and one of the biggest perks is a programming ninja named Peter that is on staff with Court and Mark. He is a delight to work with, can resolve just about any technical issue, and provides incredible insight and new tools to the community.

Participation in the private forum can be a double edged sword. If you hang out there all day and fantasize about making money online, then you obviously are not taking the actions necessary to grow your income.

Luckily, the TKA members help to keep each other in check with this a bit. There are at least two nifty tricks built into the forum that make it more useful: a karma system and a badge system. You can glance through a thread and quickly find the people who can speak with real authority, because these things are already in place to provide you with instant information. This is not to say that the newcomer gets drowned out in the crowd, however. Anyone can ask a question in the forums and instantly get expert advice and quality feedback within minutes. I have never seen a question go unanswered.

How TKA support has helped me make more money:

Every couple of days I get an idea and I write up a forum post and bounce it off the community. This is priceless. I get ideas, other people weigh in with their ideas, and we all help each other to make more money. I have hired people in the forums for various services, such as article writing, keyword research, and even link building, but this is all besides the point. The instant feedback from dozens of professional internet marketers is what really keeps me coming back. The reason I stick and stay is because I have this professional, high quality sounding board to test my ideas with.
Tools

Here is what Court and Mark did: they hired an awesome programmer, explained the biggest bottlenecks in making money with their system, and then demanded that this guy come up with brilliant solutions that could automate nearly all of the grunt work. What he came up with is fantastic, and there are least two major tools in the TKA program that more than make up for the price of admission, over and over again. One tool helps you to find profitable keywords, the other helps you to rank well in the search engines. Both tools are extremely powerful and are market leaders in their category. Since they are private tools used only by the community, they may not be recognized as market leaders, but they are (I know because I have tested the market!).

Really, these two tools are so good that Court and Mark could have easily justified commissioning their existence, even without ever sharing them with the community. They are so powerful that just one person could benefit tremendously from them….so you can imagine how much value they add to an entire community.

How TKA tools have helped me make more money:

Without going into too much detail, let’s just say that roughly 90 percent of my efforts rely exclusively on tools that I use from the Keyword Academy. Sure, I use some outside resources for things like content creation, creating and building links, and even finding keywords, but all of this has continued to shrink as the new tools at TKA have integrated most of my old methods. The tools just automate everything and make it a “one stop shopping solution.” No need to go elsewhere right now, as my income is steady rising with the tools I am working with.

Don’t get me wrong…the tools are not magic. They do not make money rain down from the sky. Ultimately, some bottlenecks still exist when it comes to increasing your income. You still need lots of original content, you still have to find keywords, and you still have to create links. The tools at TKA do a good job at making a serious dent in at least two of these areas. But you will still have to put forth some real effort, and it always takes a bit of time to get things moving along as well.
Leadership and challenges

Part of the TKA program includes weekly webinars. These are live audio and video broadcasts that you follow along with. It is pretty impressive that you can actually ask questions during these broadcasts and get direct answers as well.

Part of the challenge that Court and Mark face is in dealing with repeat questions, as well as newcomers to their program and people who have serious doubts about how it will all turn out. Most students of internet marketing would much rather think about making money online rather than put in real work and effort….and this is exactly the sort of block that Court and Mark have been learning how to overcome in the minds of their students.

It has been impressive to watch these guys evolve as teachers. You can tell that they have had moments of extreme frustration. Yet they really have been able to push beyond that and use this as an opportunity to delve into the mind of the frustrated internet entrepreneur and make it into a lesson that can help everyone. Their leadership, in this case, has pushed them to really learn what kinds of challenges are blocking their students, and how they can design challenges and goals that will produce real action and real results.

A big part of this comes into play when Court will make a breakthrough of his own, and then share it with the community, challenging them to put in the same work to replicate his efforts. He continues to push his students by pushing himself. And now, many TKA members have come up with challenges of their own in the forums, and this is the type of atmosphere that helps to incite action and promote income growth.

How TKA leadership has helped me make more money:

Like I said, I have experienced at least 2 major breakthroughs that have spurred me into action and drastically added to my bottom line. One of these was inspired by Court and the other was inspired by Mark. Each of these guys brings something unique to the table when it comes to teaching and instructing students. Obviously, Court makes his own breakthroughs in the internet marketing world and then shares his success with others, pushing them to take action and duplicate his results. Mark brings a business prowess to the table that is very professional and has actually shown me how to take my flagship website to the next level, something that I did not really believe could be achieved at first.

I don’t just subscribe to Court and Mark because I think they are nice guys or because they like my website….I do it because they have taken me all the way to $800 per month in passive income! For me, the continuing education that I get at the Keyword Academy is simply part of my business. It is a lifeline that I would be crazy to go without, as the experience thus far has multiplied my income many times over.

I am excited beyond words to look forward to the next year in internet marketing. I am so grateful that I have this level of support as I transition to a full time income online.
How To Analyze The Profit Potential Of An Online Market
March 10th, 2010 | by Court | Published in Keyword Research | 44 Comments

One of the most crucial aspects of running an online business (or an offline business that markets online) is market research. You need to know whether a market is profitable before you put time, energy, and resources into a project. People who skip this step often find themselves frustrated and it’s easy to see why. Putting hours into something that will never pay is obviously a terrible idea.

People Who Can Benefit From Understanding How Online Markets Work

* Professionals (doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, chiropractors, massage therapists, dentists, orthodontists, funeral specialists, etc) who already have sites or are thinking about setting sites up
* Casual internet marketers
* Professional marketers
* Bloggers
* E-commerce site operators
* People who are just getting started with internet marketing

How To Calculate The Profit Potential Of A Market

By looking at individual keyword phrases (the words and phrases people search for in Google) we can get a lot of insight into how money is flowing through a market. The Google Adwords Keyword Tool is extremely useful for this. Let’s take a look at an example keyword phrase so that we can further illustrate.

Example #1 – Provo Dentist (as a dentist)

For our first example, let’s take a look at the phrase ‘provo dentist’. If we look at the term in the the Adwords tool, we can see that the monthly search volume is 720. This means that 720 people are searching for this term each month in Google (approximately):

If we set the tool to show ‘Estimated Avg. CPC’ (which I did) we can determine that there is a dentist somewhere (or a marketing company) in Provo who is willing to pay $3.80 per click to buy traffic from Google. If we multiply the amount of searches by the CPC (the amount these people are willing to pay to buy a click from Google), we can determine that the top advertiser is willing to spend $2736 per month to buy traffic. They probably don’t spend this much because some people will click on the listings of other advertisers, but the point is that at least this much money is changing hands. This means that we can safely assume that the market size of the online ‘provo dentist’ market is at least $2736 per month, and that’s if the dentists are breaking even. If they are making a profit (likely), the actual market size will be higher than this.

It’s extremely difficult to get 100% of the traffic for any keyword phrase in fact you would need multiple web properties to come close. If your site ranks #1 in Google, you can plan on getting around 40% of the available traffic. That means that in order to get an accurate representation of your true profit potential in a given market, you are going to need to discount, using only 40% of the original number. This would mean that we would end up with a potential of $1094 per month, assuming that we could get our site to #1 in Google. This would of course be free traffic and we could increase our share of the market by also buying some of that traffic but that’s a different story altogether.

Another factor that’s still in play is that there are other keyword phrases that are used to search for dentists in Provo. The above screen-shot shows us that. There are also people who don’t live in Provo who would probably drive to Provo to go to a dentist that they liked. Springville is five minutes away from Provo, Orem is five minutes away from Provo, Mapleton is 10 minutes away from Provo, etc.

To get a true representation of the size of a market, you would need to add up the potential for all keyword phrases that could be used to search for your service. In this case, we would need to calculate and add up the potential for the following keyword phrases: provo dentist, provo dentists, dentist in provo, dentists in provo, springville dentist, springville dentists, dentist in springville, dentists in springville, orem dentist, orem dentists, dentists in orem, dentist in orem, etc. There are probably a lot of other cities that are nearby that would work well – you would have to do the research yourself to find them.

Example #2 – Provo Dentist (as a marketer)

For our first example, we assumed that we were an actual dentist who could take on clients from the traffic. If we look at the same keywords (and the same numbers) from the viewpoint of a marketer, things will come out differently:

We are still seeing the same numbers, but now we know that we aren’t going to make all of the profits – the dentists will also need to make some of the profit or the money will obviously quit flowing.

$2736 will still be available – that calculation doesn’t change. What does change is the percentage of the profit that we can make. We will still only be able to get 40% of the traffic if we end up at #1 in Google so we’re knocked down to $1094, just like before. From there we need to discount further. There are a few ways that we can do things.

If we wanted to establish an actual relationship with a dentist in Provo, we could probably do a 50/50 split of the profits which would mean that we could make about $547 per month if we got ranked #1 for ‘provo dentist’.

In order to make this work, we would of course have to talk to dentists and find one who was willing to partner with us in this way. For those of you who aren’t comfortable with that, you would have to choose another alternative like Google Adsense.

There are certainly dentists in Provo who advertise via Google Adsense, so how can we determine our profit if we decide to put these ads on our pages? We simply discount further based on how we expect our traffic to act. Here’s how the numbers will work out (approximately of course):

* There is still $2736 on the table
* However, we can still only get 40% of the traffic (knocks us down to $1094)
* We won’t get the full CPC because Google will take a cut and we won’t always get clicks on the highest paying ad. We can only expect to get 25% of the CPC number we see in the Adwords tool. This knocks us down to $273.50.
* Also we can’t get every visitor to click on an ad. In fact, we can only plan on getting 5% (in some cases you can get more clicks but we want to be conservative in our estimate) of our visitors to click an ad. This takes us all the way down to $13.68 per month.

We would still need to compensate for the fact that there are a lot of different keyword phrases that we could use as a marketer. The Springville and Orem keyword sets would still be on the table and as a marketer, geographical location really doesn’t matter. We could target keywords for any location because Google Adsense will have advertisers in most cities. We would need to make up for our small piece of the earnings pie by putting a lot of keywords together and getting traffic with all of them.

Uses Of This Skill Set

We of course can use these skills in a number of ways. A dentist could use these numbers to determine the relative value of a marketing company that’s offering their services. Any other service professional could of course do the same. On top of that, if a service professional was willing to pick up a new set of skills they could take care of their own marketing and pocket all of the money that would be available (in this case that’s $1094 per month – not a fortune but this would of course compound as the client came for additional work and referred friends). After a few years it’s likely that income would build nicely. Remember that our numbers are also very conservative here. We are assuming that the advertisers who are willing to buy the traffic are only breaking even. If they make a profit, there’s more profit to be made.

Marketers can of course use this type of market analysis to determine the profit potential of any keyword phrase or market that they want to enter. This saves them the time and hassle of creating web properties that don’t have little potential. Keep in mind that this methodology can be used for any keyword phrase or for any combination of keyword phrases. Marketers could also use this skill to sell ad space to the dentist (or of course any other service provider). By showing them the profit potential of the keywords, it could be easier to sell an ad. By cutting out Google you could get a larger share of profits. A dentist who can see that they have the potential to make over $1000 per month from a ranking would definitely be willing to spend $200 per month to buy ad space.

Questions About The Method?

If you have any questions about this method of market analysis, please let me know in the comments. I want to help each of you to understand this process as much as I possibly can.
